The Cruise Industry is Very Strong

Cruise Ship Travel

Now the chances are that you have already seen a lot of TV commercials or Ads online about going on a cruise.

Well the cruise industry is massive and very strong and is continuing to see growth year in and year out.

According to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), over 28 million passengers sailed on a cruise in 2018, and is going to rise to more than 30 million in 2019. Now that is amazing and you could have piece of that pie too.

What is even more exciting is that over 70 percent of those cruise passengers booked their trip with a travel agent. YAY.

To top that off in 2019 there is an expected launch of 18 new ocean cruise ships, this means that the cruise industry will continue to draw new travellers for years and years to come.

Niche Travel is Increasing

Niche Travel

Now the cruising industry is on the rise, but they are not the only section in the travel industry that is rising in popularity.

Solo travelling is increasing as more and more travellers are seeking to fulfil their bucket lists at their own pace.

Solo travellers trust travel agents to arrange and send them on an expertly planned vacation and to support them if they should have any issues on the travels.

Wellness travel offers clients the opportunity to disconnect and discover true relaxation.

According to the Global Wellness Institute, the wellness travel is doubling in growth.

The demand is so great that many destinations and resorts are quickly adapting to meet this growth rate.

These wellness travellers are looking for travel agents for their expertise and very much value the stress-free process of planning a vacation that using a travel agent offers.

Now isn’t this exciting news.

Social Media is Great for Small Businesses

Social Media and Small Business

In a recent research, it showed that 77% of travel agents are using social media to position themselves as experts and 74% use social media to promote their services to their clients.

In the same research they also reported that around 8 out of 10 travel agents use Facebook to promote their travel agency services and through that they receive at least one booking per month through that platform alone.

Now today social media networks is a main go to for small businesses to connect with their community and stay in touch with their clients and to connect with other travel agents.

Many agents are investing a lot of their time in the following social media platforms because of the low cost involved and they are able to share the values of their businesses.  The popular social media platforms are Facebook and Instagram. (You may have guest).

You Are In Control

You are in Control of your Business

The great thing is that you are in control of your travel business. Launching your home-based travel business is an idea career that provides you with the change to take control of your life.

As an independent travel agent you will be able to create your own schedule and fit it around your family and your lifestyle.

  • You set the amount of hours you put into your business.

To be honest having the flexibility of running a home-based travel business along with the income generated is at the top of the list of becoming an independent travel agent.

To be able to have the flexibility of attending family events, meeting up with friends and still being able to run a successful travel business is a great appeal.

You do not need to have any experience to get started but you do need to be coachable and teachable.

By this I mean that you will need to learn how this works and learn the tools needed to become successful.

In saying that it will take a lot less time to learn than going to university for 3 to 4 years.

The good things is that once you have learned the basics you can then focus on learning the areas of travel that you want to focus on.

Many people learn more about the travel industry as they go, such as learning about hotels, cruises the more they work with they travel suppliers and begin to specialise in that specific area of travel.

Some travel agents come from a background in the travel industry, but there are many like myself that don’t.

On the platform that I use there is so much educational courses on offer from the host agency and suppliers and other industry organisations that you will have all you need to become successful in this industry.

Now there is no one way to become successful as a travel agent and the path that you choose will depend on a few factors such as how much time and money you are able to invest.
