Empowering You to Build and Grow Your Laptop Lifestyle

Why is it that we as human beings often behave in way that we really don’t want to?

How often have you done or said something only to cringe at the thought of it afterwards?

The truth is that your behaviour is mostly driven by your subconscious mind, especially when the behaviour is hard to explain for an intellectual point of view.

What is the Root Cause for Procrastination

What is Procrastination?

Procrastination is knowing what you need to do and having the ability and the desire to do it, But for some reason you still don’t do it.

Although there may be many actual causes for procrastination, the root cause for this inconsistent behaviour exists in your subconscious mind.

You see your conscious mind is very limited in its ability to deal with life, and is only able to deal with one thing at a time.

This is why using you willpower to create any real changes will rarely work in the long term.

What Do You Need To Do in Order To Change?

What you will need to do is to in order to change your automatic behaviour which exists in your subconscious mind, which is the part of you that controls all the vital functions of your mind and your body.

You could try to overcome procrastination by using your willpower but it will only lead to short term change.

The Cause for your procrastination is not your conscious actions but in fact it lies within your subconscious links and this is mainly responsible for your behaviour.

Did you know that your nervous system is designed to preserve you when the feeling of fear presents itself?

Your nervous system works through your sub-conscious, so when you fear presents itself your sub-conscious will kick in to protect you.

The thing is that we ourselves train ourselves, unconsciously to fear certain thing by making false associations about the meaning of fear.

What I am saying is that we give things it meaning because nothing in life has any meaning but the meaning you give it.

So this means that you literally create neurological links to the experiences that get stored in your nervous system so that when you experience something the same or similar you responses will be quicker the next time.

Whenever something happens to you, your will assign a meaning to it by the way that you communicate the experience to yourself.

Sub-Consciously you are always trying to establish meaning to your experiences and at the very basic level you are trying to establish whether something means pleasure or pain to you.

The meaning that you attached to each of your experiences will then get stored in your sub-conscious mind so that it will help you react or act appropriately in your future.

The challenge is that when associations are reinforced you will start to build a belief system that will greatly influence your behaviour and this is often the cause for procrastination.

What is the root cause for Procrastination

Procrastination is Fear From Past Experiences

Although procrastination make no sense intellectually it actually reveals a lot about your sub-conscious and the reasons why you have placed limitations on your abilities.

Did you know that the main cause for procrastination is fear itself?

Before I go on I just want to say that most things that are feared never happen and the other thing is that fear is nothing more than false evidence appearing real.

  • F = False
  • E = Evidence
  • A = Appearing
  • R = Real

In saying that procrastination is fear and being more specific the fear that taking action will lead to pain or a painful experience of some kind.

At some level your sub-conscious mind combines and searches its files to link up with what it associates the action with a painful experience.

This can range from something which is mildly uncomfortable to something physically painful.

Although you consciously want to do something your sub-conscious mind will prevent you as it will associate the action with pain.

It is much easier to stay in your comfort zone and as human being we will automatically reach for whatever feels comfortable in that moment.

This is one of the main reasons why you will often procrastinate when you have to do a task that does not feel good in the moment, even when doing that task will bring your more pleasure in the future.

The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of discomfort you can comfortable deal with.

Procrastination can also show you some insight into what goals you most value, as you concern over procrastinating on it will show you that some part of you care enough to be concerned.

Some people would say that we should first form our habits and then our habits will form us.

This is why it is important to realise that procrastination can become habit and can often manifest itself as a habitual pattern of thinking.
