Empowering You to Build and Grow Your Laptop Lifestyle

ATTENTION: Successful Lifestyle Changers

As a child in the playground I learned to sing a song “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”

I guess that we were taught this as a way to pacify the bullies on the playground.

But as I got older I realised that the words from this song couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Awesome Power of Words

Word Can Hurt and Harm Us

Words do hurt and that can create great harm.

Wars have been fought because of words.

Today there are many people who are struggling in their lives and this is not just because of things like physical injuries on the playground but because of words that have been spoken out of rage, disgust or anger.

We can look at it this way.  Physical injuries through the years have healed and some heal fast but words that have been spoken into your life have not healed so fast.

For many, negative and destructive words play over and over like a bad movie in our hearts and soul.

Many of us can still remember when someone spoke negatively to us when we were small children and in most the same emotional feeling are still attached to those thoughts.

Words Are Very Powerful

Words are very powerful. We listen to the words spoken to us and they impact our lives more than we realise.

  • They move us
  • They inspire us to take action
  • They comfort and encourage us
  • They bring healing to us
  • They can also crush us
  • They can devastate us
  • They can change us positively
  • They can change us negatively

We are changed either positively or negatively simply because of words.

Even Our Own Words We Speak to Ourselves are Powerful

We are even impacted by the words that we speak to ourselves and these words are what we will often follow.

You have heard people saying that they are

  • “Not good enough”
  • “Not smart enough”

These words are so powerful that the impact on the person that speaks this into their lives will live it out in their reality.

These words spoken will almost certainly become self-fulfilling prophecies.

Negative Self Fulfilling Prophecy

Positive Self Fulfilling Prophecy

This reminds me of what the writer of Proverbs says about the power of words;

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:20)

“A fool’s mouth is his undoing and his lips are a snare to his soul.” (Proverbs 18:7)

So is mentioning this quotes from the Bible I would also like to say that we should all be careful of what we say as it just might come to pass.

If we are:

  • Hurt
  • Angry
  • Depressed

Denying it is not going to make it go away.

I do think that we should take stock of what we say and how we speak.

What do you think it would be like if we recorded ourselves on any given day?

May be if we did, we would not be very happy of what we heard when playing it back.

What would we hear? What would we be declaring about ourselves on a daily basis?

What is our self-talk?

How do we speak about ourselves?

What Are Your Words Saying About You?

When you speak, you are actually listening to your own words and those words are going to impact your life either positively or negatively.

What do you think would happen if your words started to sound more like the person you are supposed to be?

What do you think would happen if you started to intentionally speak words that brought life?

That brought encouragement not only into your life but into the lives of others.

The Awesome Power Of Words

Our words are powerful. They are ever changing us and others that are around us.

Let me ask you this.

What kind of a life do you really want to live?

If our own tongues have the power of life and death and what we say will bear fruit.

Then I would say that it is time that we start speaking in the right direction.

Because we, you and I have the power to build and grow the life that we want to live in.

If we can learn to encourage, build-up and NOT teat down ourselves and or others around us.

Then we will start to experience powerful changes of good “fruit” in our lives.
